I know it's been a few years since I have posted anything ... but so now I'll start posting again with an update of what I was up to during my 2nd year...
My last post was from my 1st year exams ... all of which I passed, and made it to year 2.
2nd Year was a busy year between lectures, clinics and social/networking times. All in all it was probably the hardest year just juggling everything both socially and academically, but it was also a very rewarding year!
Here's a picture summary of my year with some of the various social/networking experiences:
|
I was part of the Optics Society where we held several socials including an "Eyes Skating" night, which had a great turn out and ended up being the Canadian students teaching the UK students how to skate ;) |

During my 2nd year I found the Birmingham City Men's Lacrosse team, which I began playing with. Throughout the season (which runs from October to April), we managed to finish at the top in our division, after travelling the country playing teams from all over the UK.

A group shot after one of our wins ... although surprisingly fewer players in this shot than normal :P |

During my 2nd year was also when I finally made it down to London. Although it wasn't until the second half of the year that I first went down, I then went to London about 4 times during my 2nd year :P The first time I went with a classmate to just take a break from lectures and coursework, but then I went again several times after for meetings. As I volunteered and was selected to be an AOP Student representative, which required me to go for a few meetings during the year, yet I always booked my train jounreys to London so that I had time before and after the meetings to do a bit of sightseeing, and by the end of the year I had seen basically all of the main tourist attractions.
